Once an industrial town, Barrhead’s situation in the rural landscape of Renfrewshire has made it an attractive residential suburb of Greater Glasgow. There has been significant new development in recent years. Yet there is still a strong sense of community in Barrhead and our church seeks to actively engage with both the established community and those who have recently moved to the town.
The congregation enjoys good relations with the churches of other denominations in the town.
On 1 May 2016 the doors of the old red sandstone building were closed for the last time after 112 years. The building required major repairs which would result in excessive costs. The congregation moved to share accommodation with Barrhead Evangelical Church. This was an amicable arrangement. At this point, the congregation feels it now time to move on and is actively seeking new premises so that we can further our mission in the town.
For the time being we are meeting jointly with the URC Church.
